Background of Firm
Peterson, Kolker, Haedt & Benda, Ltd. traces its origins back almost 100 years. The firm was located at 211 South Newton Avenue in Albert Lea starting in 1989 when John R. Peterson, Jim Schlichting and Dick Davies renamed the firm Peterson, Schlichting & Davies, Ltd. At the time, the firm leased the location from American Bank in Albert Lea and invested in a build out of the space in exchange for a long lease.
Over the last thirty years at this location, Peterson, Kolker, Haedt & Benda, Ltd. changed its name 5 times and has had anywhere from 4 to 7 attorneys practicing at one time.
Historically, the firm has focused on serving southern Minnesota businesses, farmers, and families through Estate Planning, Business Planning and all other issues that come up with clients and their families living their lives. Additionally, the firm has continued to expand its representation to municipalities and government entities such as townships and watersheds which strengthens relationships through interaction with board members and workers for these organizations.
Our philosophy as a firm is simply to be involved in our communities. This philosophy comes from the conscious decision of all shareholders embracing not only the practice of law in Southern Minnesota, but the enjoyment of living in Southern Minnesota. We are involved in our communities by serving on local boards, being actively involved with our family activities and volunteering our legal services to community initiatives and organizations.
