Stephanie Haedt is a native of southern Minnesota. She has practiced law in Albert Lea since 2005.
Prior to coming to Albert Lea, Stephanie practiced primarily in the area of plaintiff’s employment litigation. This experience provides a unique perspective to her business clients, advising clients on employment and business decisions, including personnel issues, discipline and termination, effective documentation, employee handbooks, policies, agreements, and contracts.
Stephanie is familiar with the Minnesota Human Rights Act, Minnesota Nursing Mothers and Pregnancy Leave Acts, Women’s Economic Security Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Minnesota Sick Leave and Care for Relatives Leave, Whistleblower Statute, Title VII, Unemployment Compensation, Minnesota Drug Testing Law, Child Labor Standards Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and state payment of wage laws, Affordable Health Care Act, Personnel Records requirements, I-9 Compliance, Employee Classification, and other State and Federal employment laws.
She has experience in the judicial system and state and federal administrative agencies, including, state and federal court, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, Minnesota Department of Labor, Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and Minnesota Department of Employment and Development - Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Program.
Stephanie also practices in the areas of family law, corporate/business law, civil litigation, medical assistance, and estate planning. Stephanie provides personal attention to clients to find solutions to their unique circumstances. Stephanie practices in all areas of family law, including, but not limited to, dissolutions, paternities, custody, parenting time, child support, antenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and adoption.
Stephanie has been recognized as one of Minnesota’s Attorney of the Year. She also has been recognized in Top Women Attorneys in Minnesota by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine, Rising Star by Super Lawyers, and an Up and Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer. Past recipient of the Minnesota Third Judicial District Pro Bono Award. Stephanie won an Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Employment Discrimination Law from the Minnesota State Bar Association, Labor & Employment Law Section.
Stephanie also spends significant time giving back to the communities in which she lives and practices. Stephanie is a previous recipient of the Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Of the Year. Stephanie is a volunteer attorney for Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, a past president of the Freeborn County Bar Association, Former Board Chair and member of the Executive Committee of the Albert Lea Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Worksite Wellness Committee, Blue Zones Leadership Team Member, State High School League Mock Trial Judge, Assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader, Hockey Team Mom, Billet Mom for the Austin Bruins, and former Commissioner of the Austin Human Rights Commission.
Stephanie is married to Dustin, who works for Hormel Foods Corporation. They have two daughters, Brenna and Lily.
